Shikui Chen, Ph.D.

Associate Professor

Prof. Shikui Chen joined the Mechanical Engineering Faculty at Stony Brook in the Fall of 2013. Prof. Chen is a member of ASME and AIAA. He was the recipient of the ASME Compliant Mechanisms Theory Award at the ASME 31st Mechanisms and Robotics Conference. Prof. Chen currently serves as Associate Editors for the ASME Journal of Mechanical Design (JMD),  Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization (SMO), and the Journal of Engineering Design (JED).

Research Interests: Shape & topology optimization, geometric modeling with level set methods, multiphysics modeling, PDE-constrained optimization, soft robotics, additive manufacturing
